Working with the university’s alumni and community engagement team, and community groups, URAA has established several partnerships that help advance the interests of future U of R students and alumni. Chief among them is the partnership that URAA has with the alumni and community engagement staff.
Sponsorship support is linked to mentorship, relationship building, U of R alumni engagement, and U of R student engagement.
At the October 23, 2024 URAA Annual General Meeting (AGM), the following detailed partnership and sponsorship report was provided:
The University of Regina Alumni Association (URAA) is proud to support various groups, activities and initiatives that promote the university, its students and its graduates. The following is a list of programs and events supported by URAA over the past year.
Alumni Crowning Achievement Awards – URAA is the presenting partner of these annual university awards that celebrate alumni excellence. The association contributed $25,000 towards the program. 50TH Anniversary Alumni Week Sponsorship — As the presenting partner, URAA contributed $25,000 in support of the 50th anniversary alumni week events currently taking place on campus (October 21-26, 2024). Inspiring Leadership Forum – URAA purchased two tables (total cost $6,400) for the March 2024 edition of this annual university event aimed primarily at aspiring women leaders. University Career Fairs – URAA supported the university’s Fall and Spring Career Fairs by hiring a photographer to take photographs of graduating students for their portfolios. The cost was approximately $1,500 for each Career Fair. Overall Athletics Sponsorship 2024-25 – URAA has a comprehensive athletics sponsorship with the university worth $16,000. It includes support of $6,000 towards the Cougars teams, $2,500 towards the Rams, $2,500 towards UNITED: An Evening in Support of Varsity Sport, $2,500 in “swag items for the annual February Cougar Slam Dunk event and $2,500 towards the new Women’s Soccer Homecoming Kick-off Event. Support for the Cougar Women’s Hockey Alumni Golf Tournament – URAA provided $800 as a green level sponsor of this annual tournament which raises funds for scholarships for Cougar hockey players. Support for the Faculty of Engineering’s Project Day 2024 – URAA was a Silver Sponsor ($750) of the Faculty of Engineering’s Project Day 2024 in early April. Approximately 110 fourth-year graduating students presented their final capstone projects to professional engineers, faculty, special industry guests and family members. URAA was billed as a Presentation Room sponsor at the event. Support for the Fifth Parallel Gallery’s “Rekindled Spaces” Art Exhibition – URAA is the presenting sponsor ($3,500) of “Rekindled Spaces”, an exhibition of the works of 39 fine arts alumni currently running at the student-run Fifth Parallel Gallery in the Riddell Centre.
URAA Sponsorship Criteria
The University of Regina Alumni Association (URAA) is a leading advocate of our University and our alumni throughout the year. The URAA sponsorship program is an annual fund available to support strategic events and initiatives that help build awareness for the Association.
Eligibility Criteria
The URAA Sponsorship Program supports events, programs, activities, and projects that tie into University of Regina alumni and students.
Activities or events must be linked to at least one of these areas to qualify for support:
Mentorship
Relationship building
U of R alumni engagement
U of R student engagement
Applications are also subject to the following criteria to qualify for funding:
Applicants are eligible for no more than one grant per fiscal year (April 1 to March 31);
Applications for funding must be submitted annually; no multi-year funding applications will be approved; and
A successful funding application in one year does not guarantee that future applications will be awarded in subsequent years.
In addition to supporting one-time or annual fundraising events, we also accept requests for donations of merchandise for draws, raffles, or prizes.
Guidelines
For a sponsorship request to be approved, it must follow these guidelines:
The sponsored event, group or activity must enhance alumni engagement with the U of R, prospective students and/or students, faculty and/or department;
The sponsored event, group or activity must be directly affiliated to the U of R; and
Appropriate recognition must be given to highlight the URAA’s involvement.
Organizations that receive funding from the URAA over $500 must also agree to provide a post-event/initiative report.
